Eschatology (from Greek eschaton, "End"): a religious doctrine of the last things (see also ►End). Eschatologies can be accounts not only of the general end of the world but also of the continuance and nature of individual life after death. They can be found not only in major religions such as ►Christianity and ►Islam, but in nearly all religions and creation mythologies.
